Biotium One-Step Blue Protein Gel Stain, 1X
One-Step Blue is a ready-to-use protein gel staining solution. It produces fast (5-60 min) protein staining in a single step without fixation or washing. Proteins can be detected by visible blue staining, or by near-infrared fluorescence. In addition to rapid results and simple staining, One-Step Blue offers safer handling and disposal compared to Coomassie staining because it is entirely aqueous-based, without hazardous methanol or acetic acid. One-Step Blue has comparable sensitivity as the widely used Coomassie Blue, with a lower limit of detection around 10-20 ng depending on the detection method used. The staining is fully compatible with mass spectrometry and Edman-based sequencing.

Biotium GelRed Nucleic Acid Gel Stain, 3X in Water
GelRed is a sensitive, stable and environmentally safer alternative to the highly toxic ethidium bromide (EB) for staining dsDNA, ssDNA or RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels (see PAGE GelRed Nucleic Acid Gel Stain). The dye is noncytotoxic, nonmutagenic and nonhazardous at concentrations used in gel staining. It can be conveniently disposed down the drain or in regular trash at working concentrations, reducing disposal costs. It is much more sensitive than EB or SYBR Safe and extremely stable for long-term room temperature storage. Simple to use in precast or post-electrophoresis gel staining and detected with a UV transilluminator in the same optical setting used for EB. DAPI (4',6-Diamidino-2-Phenylindole) is a popular blue DNA dye that is used as a nuclear counterstain in fluorescence microscopy, chromosome staining and flow cytometry. The dye binds to the minor groove of dsDNA with approximately 20-fold fluorescence enhancement, with higher affinity for A-T rich regions. Because of the potential toxicity of DAPI, we offer DAPI dilactate dissolved in H2O as a safer alternative to weighing out the powdery form. We also offer DAPI dilactate solid, which is more water soluble than the dihydrochloride form of the dye.
